Master of Marketing - Franchising, Retail & Service Chains

Promotion 2017-2018

What I needed to do to make that project come to reality was firstly to “add structure” to my mindset and skillset. That’s why I decided to pursue a Master program in managerial marketing. And the M2 Franchising, Retail & Service Chains at IGR-IAE Rennes happened to be a perfect match.

What was your motivation for this study project in France ?

I was working as a concept copywriter in the creative advertising – marketing industry in Vietnam prior to applying to IGR-IAE Rennes.
In 2017, after nearly 2 years working, I wanted to shift the focus of my career path to be more managerial, operational. What I needed to do to make that project come to reality was firstly to “add structure” to my mindset and skillset. That’s why I decided to pursue a Master program in managerial marketing. And the M2 Franchising, Retail & Service Chains at IGR-IAE Rennes happened to be a perfect match.

What would you advise to a Vietnamese student who has the same project as you?

The content of the program would be really ideal for those who like to dig deeper in chains’ practices. In Vietnam, chains in all shapes, sizes and kinds of sectors are growing, but there’s a shortage of practitioners who are trained and specialized in the field. So I think the program would absolutely add competitive advantage to your profile.

What is your best surprise/memory of your arrival in France/Rennes/IGR-IAE Rennes?

I fell in love with Rennes at the first sight honestly. When I arrived, it was the autumn time so everything was soft and sweet. The city is green, lovely and humble. I loved my renovated room at Crous Beaulieu also. It was small but so well designed, perfectly clean, with a view full of greenery.
There I did have one of the best times of my life.

How has your education at IGR helped you in your career?

The program is very well experience-based and though it’s specialized in franchising and chains, what we learned throughout the courses could be applied easily in a wide range of activities. After graduating, I worked for an IT startup in Paris where our clients were hotel chains. The knowledge from the program was then very helpful for me to understand my clients and assist them.

How was your career path after you left IGR?

Besides working in industry, I am considering continuing an academic path by applying in some PhD programs. In this plan, I’ve been given a lot of support from Pr. Rozenn Perrigot, given that she is a respected researcher with a very good network in the field.
