LE Hong Hanh, Vietnam, Master of Finance and PhD in Finance graduate

Ph.D. in Finance

Promotion 2018

Today, looking back upon all that experience brings me the feeling that doing my Ph.D at IGR-IAE Rennes was a beautiful journey that I will never regret.

LE Hong Hanh applied for the Master of Finance – Advanced studies and research in Finance after a few years of professional experience in Vietnam. During her Master studies, she received support from the University of Rennes 1 Foundation, thanks to the Research Master grant.

I spent a year studying in the Master of Finance – Advanced Studies and Research in Finance at IGR-IAE Rennes before making the important decision to continue my Ph.D. thesis there. My supervisor, Professor Jean-Laurent Viviani, is a great professor and with his wonderful support, I have completed my thesis entitled “Machine learning and applications: New model to predict the bankruptcy of banks“.

At the time I started my Ph.D, machine learning in the sector of finance and banking was a relatively new topic and I was worried whether I could ever reach my goal. However, we were successful in having a publication in a scientific journal regarding this topic. We also presented other studies in quality conferences (AFFI- france, ABFC – Australia). Aside from my supervisor, other professors and University staff were also supportive and friendly.

Today, looking back upon all that experience brings me the feeling that doing my Ph.D at IGR-IAE Rennes was a beautiful journey that I will never regret.
