Students of our Master programmes taught in English recently visited the Mont Saint Michel last week, the famous historical and cultural landmark. They discovered its exceptional setting and wildlife.
The day trip began with a hike in the bay. Patrick, a qualified naturalist guide born in Normandy but very friendly*, showed his office in nature and explained a lot about the characteristics of its environment and the dangers of the area where the highest tides in Europe are found.
The students walked through quicksand to get a feel for it, and enjoyed the beauty of the landscape.
This was a great day to meet everyone and learn a little bit about French culture.
In the afternoon, accompanied by a tour guide, the students wandered from room to room in the Abbey to reach the highest point and enjoy a breathtaking view.
Thanks to Marcos Molina, team leader of the French as a Foreign Language teachers crew at IGR-IAE Rennes for organizing the day !
*“Is Mont Saint-Michel Breton or Norman?“
Bretons and Normans regularly quarrel over who owns the famous rock.
