{"id":608993,"date":"2026-10-13T13:09:03","date_gmt":"2026-10-13T11:09:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.igr.univ-rennes.fr\/?p=608993"},"modified":"2026-10-13T13:11:21","modified_gmt":"2026-10-13T11:11:21","slug":"international-students-discover-brittany-and-its-surroundings-sept-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.igr.univ-rennes.fr\/en\/international-students-discover-brittany-and-its-surroundings-sept-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"International students discover Brittany and its surroundings \u2013 Sept 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"608993\" class=\"elementor elementor-608993\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5cb1d888 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"5cb1d888\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4cd5db68 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4cd5db68\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>International students at IGR-IAE Rennes are continuing their exploration of French and Breton culture through a program of outings and cultural activities, accompanied by their French as a Foreign Language (FLE) teachers, <strong>Marcos Molina Fernandez<\/strong> and <strong>Fran\u00e7ois Preterre<\/strong>.<\/p><p>In September, several events gave them the chance to explore Breton heritage\u2014as well as Mont Saint-Michel in Normandy\u2014discover local traditions, and share enjoyable moments, all while practicing French in real-life situations.<\/p><h4>Friday, September 11 \u2013 La Gacilly and Monteneuf<\/h4><p>The day began in <strong>La Gacilly<\/strong> with a visit to the <strong>Maison Yves Rocher<\/strong> and the famous La Gacilly <strong>Photo Festival<\/strong>\u2014an opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of photography and discover an iconic local landmark.<\/p><p>In the afternoon, the students continued exploring Breton heritage in <strong>Monteneuf<\/strong>, where they admired the alignments of standing stones (menhirs) and learned more about Brittany\u2019s megalithic history.<\/p><h4>Wednesday, September 16 \u2013 Rennes and Breton traditions<\/h4><p>The students first took part in a <strong>scavenger hunt in the heart of Rennes<\/strong>. Divided into teams, they completed various challenges across the city, discovering its <strong>landmarks<\/strong> in a fun way and interacting with local residents. This afternoon of lively interaction concluded with drinks in the lush setting of <strong>Thabor Park<\/strong>.<\/p><p>In the evening, it was time for Breton traditions! At the <strong>Celtic Club of Rennes<\/strong>, the students discovered Breton dance and tried their hand at this iconic aspect of regional culture, enjoying a warm and festive atmosphere.<\/p><h4>Friday, September 18 \u2013 Discovering Mont-Saint-Michel<\/h4><p>To wrap up this program of cultural outings, the students headed to <strong>Mont-Saint-Michel<\/strong>, an iconic French heritage site and a must-visit destination in Normandy. The visit offered them the chance to explore an exceptional location, distinguished by its history, architecture, and unique natural setting.<\/p><h4>Immersing themselves in local culture<\/h4><p>These outings provide wonderful opportunities for international students to explore their surroundings, gain a deeper understanding of French and Breton culture, and build bonds with their fellow students. They also help enrich their French language learning through the conversations, encounters, and experiences shared along the way.
